Google Pixel vs Apple iPhone 7: design and finish
Neither smartphone will let you down here. For both devices, the premium quality is unquestionable. The design is also similar since both devices have a metal casing that makes them pleasant to handle. Of course, the iPhone 7 design isn’t the most original - it has had the same design for 3 generations - however the phone maintains an elegant style. I wouldn’t recommend the jet black version, which has a more plastic than metal feel and shows every fingerprint. This can be compensated for by the water resistance that the Pixel lacks.
If you're after more originality, you'll have to turn to the Pixel. This smartphone is certainly one of the most beautiful smartphones ever created by Google. It’s a feast for the eyes.
As for the differences, you’ll notice an actual Home button on the iPhone and a Gorilla Glass 4 back panel on the Pixel. Note that the iPhone 7 is more fine and compact than the Pixel but the Pixel has the added value of including a mini-jack.
Google Pixel vs Apple iPhone 7: display
To begin with size, this boils down to a question of taste and color since the Google Pixel offers a 5-inch screen, contrary to the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 screen. The main differences lie in screen definition. The Pixel is a good candidate in this area as it offers Full-HD definition (1080 x 1920 pixels). Oddly, the iPhone 7 doesn’t offer as much with a lower definition (750 x 1334 pixels). Using this type of definition for a screen is sufficient but the device lacks any sort of virtual reality.
In terms of image responsiveness and accuracy, it is definitely a high-end product. Both screens are good but, thanks to the Pixel’s AMOLED screen, it stands out thanks to its more vibrant colors. The iPhone 7’s unique advantage is its compatibility with Force Touch technology that Apple renamed 3D Touch and which allows access to new features with extra support.
If you want more originality, consider the Pixel
Google Pixel vs Apple iPhone 7: user interface
The software interface is always a delicate subject as it is hard to compare two OS devices that have two different visions. Google Pixel uses the latest 7.1 version of Android Nougat and offers the best Android experience around. Google Assistant, Android’s artificial intelligence, is at the heart of the Google smartphone.
The Pixel offers the best Android experience around
Unfortunately, for now, it only reaches its full potential in English. But Assistant learns quickly and the device is, without a doubt, quickly becoming bilingual in the French language.
On the other hand, the iPhone 7 works with the most recent Apple mobile operating system: iOS 10. In both cases, you are guaranteed the latest software versions. Google guarantees two years of operating system updates and three years of security updates. A special mention goes to the Pixel that runs updates in the background within a second partition system.
Another interesting element of the Pixel is that the users benefit from 24/7 client support. It’s even possible to authorize an operator to use the smartphone.
Google Pixel vs Apple iPhone 7: performance
It’s always difficult to evaluate the performance of two smartphones that use different operating systems. Know that neither device struggles with multitasking or with the most bandwidth-hungry games.
Neither device struggles with multitasking or with the most bandwidth-hungry games
As I still haven’t had the opportunity to assess the Pixel against benchmarks, I cannot comment on all its capacities but the test that I did carry out allows me to be relatively confident in this area. It uses the most powerful Snapdragon processor (821) and 4GB of RAM. The iPhone 7, equipped with a new A10 processor and 3GB of RAM, is also a benchmark for power and performance.
Google Pixel vs Apple iPhone 7: camera
Falling behind other Android smartphones for many years, Apple has finally reacted with the iPhone 7. The company has at last caught up with the market and offers a great photo experience with a 12 MP camera (f/1.8). However, the iPhone 7 finds itself below the Galaxy S7, which remained the market’s front-runner until the introduction of the Pixel. I say “remained” because, according to DXOMark, one of the main benchmarking institutes for photography, it’s the Pixel that holds the top spot for the best camera phones with a score of 89.
The test that I carried out didn’t allow me to form a clear opinion of the 12.3 MP camera but I am confident in the Pixel because Google was able to optimize the hardware and software more than usual.
Google Pixel vs Apple iPhone 7: battery
For the moment, seeing as we don’t have the Pixel device in-house, we were not able to test the Pixel battery efficiency from the Google event display stand. Under the hood, the Pixel carries a 2770 mAh battery, which should allow your battery to last the day. The iPhone 7 has barely improved. Its endurance isn’t bad but it’s not great either.
In this area, the main advantage of the Pixel is its ability to gain 7 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging.

Google Pixel vs Apple iPhone 7: verdict
For now, it’s still too early to determine which smartphone is the best as the Pixel needs more investigating in order to reach a clear conclusion. Whatever the result, one thing is for sure: you will not regret your choice. We have two clear top quality smartphones. We are faced with two philosophies: Android vs iOS.
Over the years, the Android community has hoped that Google would produce its own smartphone and they have finally heard us
Of course, my preference lies with the Pixel. I simply decided that, from a first trial, I found the Google Pixel to be particularly accomplished. Over the years, the Android community has hoped that Google would produce its own smartphone and they have finally heard us. Of course, the Pixel is still not everything that we want in a Google smartphone but it’s the first step that will lead to other features. It’s all about the device offering the most well-rounded Android experience available today.
Which of the two devices do you think wins the duel?
