Google Pixel XL price and release date
The Pixel XL was announced on October 4 at a small event in San Francisco where other new Google innovations were released. The smaller version is available for pre-order right away but we don't have information on when the Pixel XL will be available. Pricing starts at $769 for this larger device. As Google partnered with Verizon, the phablet is only available through this major carrier.
Google Pixel XL design
You can see the HTC partnership in the design of the Google Pixel device. The Pixel XL phablet is similar in design to the iPhone Plus line and, depending on the customer, this could be either a boon or drawback. The aluminum frame flows seamlessly into a glass screen through curved edges.
Google Pixel XL display
The screen represents a major difference between this and the smaller variant. The Pixel comes with a 5-inch 1080p display while the Pixel XL comes with a QHD display. This should make the VR capabilities with the new Google device – also unveiled at the event – much smoother.
Google Pixel XL software
The Google Pixel line is the first to offer Google Assistant pre-installed on the phones. At the event, Google made sure the audience knew that the software and hardware were built for each other. This is reminiscent of iPhone technology but I would say that this is a positive aspect of Apple. The Pixel XL will come with Nougat right out of the box.
Google Pixel XL specs
The Google Pixel XL comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset backed with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. The battery is a solid 3,450 mAh, around 700 mAh bigger than the smaller variant. The rear camera is 12.3 MP and scores an 89 on DxOMark.
